Lake homes, ski homes and everything between.
Sandpoint homes come in two flavors that both make stairs hard: lake places built on steep banks above Lake Pend Oreille, and mountain homes stacked into the hillside on the way up to Schweitzer.
We're a North Idaho company, and Bonner County is part of our regular service area. We'll come to the house, look at the property, and tell you what will actually work.

Every area has its own kind of house. Here's what we run into most in and around Sandpoint.
Lake Pend Oreille lots
Idaho's largest lake has a lot of steep shoreline, from Garfield Bay and the Sagle shores to the Hope peninsula. A hillside tram is often the only practical way to get people and gear to the dock.
Homes built into the mountain
Around Schweitzer and the hills above town, many homes have the garage on the lowest level and the kitchen two floors up. An elevator from the garage makes every trip easier.
Second homes and future plans
A lot of people buy here planning to stay for good. Framing an elevator-ready shaft during a build or remodel keeps the option open without the cost today.
Real winters
Snow loads near the mountain are serious. Outdoor stairlifts, porch lifts and trams need the right covers and a fall shutdown plan, and we handle both.

Idaho rules, plus the shoreline
Idaho
Elevators and lifts in private homes are exempt from Idaho's state elevator permits and inspections (Idaho Code §39-8606), but the construction side still goes through the City of Sandpoint or Bonner County. For tram projects near the water, Bonner County shoreline rules apply, and anything that extends onto the lake needs an encroachment permit from the Idaho Department of Lands. We'll help you sort out which apply.
We'll tell you which permits your project needs and coordinate with your builder or contractor.

Do you serve Priest Lake and Bonners Ferry?
Yes. We work throughout Bonner and Boundary counties, including Priest River, Priest Lake and Bonners Ferry. Call and we'll set up a visit.
Can a tram go down to my dock on Lake Pend Oreille?
In most cases, yes. Trams are designed for steep shoreline lots. We'll survey the slope, length and access, then design a track that ends where you need it.
Can you add an elevator to a home with the garage on the lowest level?
Yes, and it's one of the most useful places for one. An elevator that starts in the garage serves every floor and takes care of groceries, luggage and ski gear.
Do you service equipment you didn't install?
Yes. Our technicians service many brands of home elevators, stairlifts, platform lifts and trams. Call with the make and model.
What permits will my project need?
Elevators in private homes don't need a state elevator permit in Idaho, but building and electrical permits usually apply. Lakefront tram projects can add county shoreline permits and, if anything extends onto the lake, a state encroachment permit. We'll walk you through it.
